Robert Louis Barnett

March 14, 1934 - March 6, 2011

KEIZER - Robert aka 'Papa" passed away on March 6, 2011 at the age of 76. He was the son of Milton and Costella Barnett, born March 14, 1934, in Little Rock, Ark. He met and married Rolanda J. Barnett April 3, 1971, and together they moved to Keizer, Oregon to enjoy retirement in 1993. Robert worked as a Newspaper Print Technician and Custodian over the years. He loved singing, cooking, watching sports, fishing, bowling, spending time with family, reading the bible, and praising the Lord. Robert was an active member of Pauline Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, Promise Keepers, Dorothy Patch and Nellie B. Thompson Scholarship Committee, Men of Zion, and a Marion County Food Bank volunteer. Mr. Barnett was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Lillian Gordon and Mildred Patricia Randolph; brothers, Charles Barnett and Donald Barnett. He is survived by daughters, Tina Mimms, Yvonne Mimms, and Jacqueline (Capice) Simms; sisters, Norma (Dee Dee) Somerville and Linda Smith of Los Angeles, CA., Lisa Heard-Goines of Cincinnati, OH; granddaughters, Robin and Jennifer Mimms of Keizer, OR and grandsons, Julius Roberts, Christopher Coleman, Marcus Simms and Brandon Simms; great grandchild, Sean Roberts of Los Angeles, CA; cousins, Juanita (Sam) Barns, Bertha and Brenda White and Dr. Jacqueline Harvard. Robert had eight nieces, six nephews, seven great nephews and six great nieces and several friends throughout the Northwest. A memorial service will be held March 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Pauline Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 3593 Sunnyview Rd NE Salem, OR. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center - Salem.
