Robert Hamilton Obituary
- - Bob Hamilton, 65, died unexpectedly on Wednesday July 4th, 2018. He was born November 17, 1952 in Berkeley, CA, the son of Howard and Deloris Hamilton. The family of five moved to Salem in 1957. Bob was a graduate of South Salem High School and studied at Lane Community College. He was an Army veteran, serving in both Germany and Korea.
After completing his military service, Bob returned to Salem and began a successful career as a Residential Construction and Home Remodeling Contractor. During this time he met his future wife Barbara Seiffert. They married in 1977, raised twin daughters, and lived happily for 34 years until her death in 2012.
Bob is survived by daughters Ashley (Scott) Odell, and Megan (Josh) Hendricks; grandsons Ethan and Dylan Hendricks; granddaughters Addison and Olivia Odell; sisters Christie (Dennis) Batterman, and Janice (Dennis) Pierce; brother-in-law Mark (Pam) Seiffert; two nieces and two nephews.
Bob enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and in recent years spending time with his grandkids and attending their sporting events. His favorite travel destination was Hawaii, where he and his wife Barb loved the beautiful weather, the beaches and the music. Bob and Barb loved cooking together for family and friends, and Bob became a master of the barbeque grill. Bob was a generous and loving husband, father and grandfather, who always put his family first. He will be missed. The heartache of his passing is unmeasurable but we find some comfort in knowing he is now with Mom again. We would like to invite all friends and family to join us in celebrating Dad's life. A casual gathering is planned on Friday July 27, 2018 4PM-7PM at the Mission Mill Dye House in Salem,OR. A small private family service is planned for a later date at Willamette National Cemetery.

Megan and Ashley, I am just now learning of your Dad's passing. What a shock. We never got a chance to really know your dad but he seemed like a sweetheart and so was your mom. It should be comforting that they are enjoying one another's company now. I know you will be missing him as you have been missing your mom. Bob, Mike Moreland and myself were best of friends, spending much time together, starting the fall of 1969 when the three of us were on the South Salem HS swim team, and continuing thru the spring of 1970. This was the most enjoyable period of high school, for me and Bob was a big part of that. I remember well his cars; 1951-54 Chevrolet?, his cherried out 2 door black Nova and the 1966 VW bug that had belonged to his sister Christie? I remember his parents Howard and Dee as well. This was a very impressionable time of my life for me and Bob was a big part of that.

Ashley & Megan, I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with your Mom and I hope you find comfort that they are reunited. I have a wonderful memory of Barb relaying to me how much fun you all had in Mexico on vacation one year. Thinking of you and your families during this difficult time.

I'm so sorry to hear of bob passing. I first met bob many years ago installing HVAC in one of the beautiful custom homes he built. Over the years we've ran into each other and we always had good conversations even if they were short. Rip Bob. You will be missed, loved and remembered by many. It was a honor sir.

Bob built my house back in 1995. He was fun, fair and a great craftsman. I also knew Barb from working for DAS at the state. They were both great people. RIP and as you say, they are together again!
