Ross Johnson Obituary

Ross Loren Johnson

Salem, OR - On May 6, 2021 a beautiful bright light went out on earth, while an even brighter one began to shine in heaven. Born on August 27, 1985, Ross Loren Johnson passed away peacefully, after a bravely and fiercely fought battle with a brief illness.

Ross was loved by many and was one of the truly good people in the world. Sensitive, kind, and caring, he felt the pain of others. He loved animals and kids, and especially his family, and those who were fortunate enough to call him a friend. He never walked through life—he ran, always with an infectious smile on his face. He had a sharp wit, and all he encountered were witness to his signature wry sense of humor.

Ross loved the outdoors, and spent his leisure time camping, boating, water skiing, snowboarding, driving ATVs, and playing his beloved golf. He was loved deeply by his family and will be missed every day.

He is survived by his parents, Wallace and Garnet Long, his brothers, Barrett Johnson (Jennifer) and Harris Long (Grace), and his fiancée, Amy Zapata.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Johnson, and his grandparents, Glenn and Marian Wisser. A private service was held on Wednesday, May 12th.

Ross was not given a long life, but his was a life well-lived. Ross would have liked to adopt every homeless pet he knew about, and contributions may be made in his name to the Willamette Valley Humane Society. Arrangements by Restlawn Funeral Home, online at www.RestlawnFH.com.

God, Garnet took care of Ross in life, I ask that you watch over him in death. You entrusted him to her care, now, she has given him back to you. May he find a happy place with you and be embraced by his brother, grandmother, and grandfather. When you will it so those left behind will be standing by their side.

My heart hurts. We were all rooting and praying hard for you until the very end. You will be missed greatly by all of us down here... May it bring comfort to your family knowing you're not alone, but reunited once again with Richard, your beloved grandmother and Sofie. Give them big squeezes from all of us. See you again someday, Ross.
