Ashley Pope

Ashley Coite Pope, 50, of Statesville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Ashley was born Jan. 11, 1971, in Catawba County, and was the son of Betty Pope and the late Coite Lee Pope. He was a member at New Bethany Baptist Church and taught at Iredell County Schools in the Automotive Technical Center. He greatly loved his wife of 24 years, his mother, and his beloved pets. Ashley enjoyed cheering on Duke basketball and working on his classic cars.

In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Melinda Keller Pope; siblings, David Pope (Martha), Paulette Doss (Charles), Bobby Pope (Margie), Teresa P. Fox; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.

A visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Beulah Baptist Church, with a service to follow at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Bill Mason officiating. Please follow all COVID-19 protocols when inside.

Dear Mrs. Pope, Thank you for sharing your amazing husband with us. He was such a positive and powerful influence on so many young people in the Iredell-Statesville School District. Our son will never forget the time he spent with Mr. Pope. Please accept our love and blessings.
