Edwin Abercrombie Obituary

Edwin Gray Abercrombie

August 22, 1936 - December 24, 2023

Edwin Gray Abercrombie, age 87, of Statesville, passed away on Sunday, December 24 at Levine Dickson Hospice House of Huntersville, NC after a brief illness. Ed was born in Johnson City, Tennessee to the late Austin Abercrombie and Allie Horne Abercrombie.

Ed raised his family in Burlington, NC where he worked as a teacher and in the food services industry. He moved to Statesville in 2003 where he became an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Ed enjoyed listening to college and professional sports and was an avid history buff. He had a keen memory, and we will miss his many detailed stories of our family's history. Most of all, Ed enjoyed spending time with friends and family. His always positive attitude was a blessing to many. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister Ann Colley.

Ed is survived by his sister Maxine Claar of Burlington, his son Gray (Beverly) of Pineville, NC and daughters Ann of Durham NC and Brenda Lynn of Mebane, NC, grandchildren Ashlyn, Meredith and Julian and great grandson Nolan.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 6 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Statesville, NC.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Levine Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC
