Frank Williams Obituary

Frank Williams TROUTMAN Frank J. Williams, Sr., 81, of Statesville, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012. He was born in Iredell County on March 11, 1930, to the late Ethel Nabors and Grady Williams, Sr. Frank served our country honorably in the Navy from 1947 to 1950, and in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He was married for 50 years to the late Jane Brooks Williams and was a longtime member and deacon of Fallstown Baptist Church. He was a Babe Ruth baseball coach for several years for the Bill Hammond Ford and the Troutman Police Department teams. Frank was always dedicated to serving the community. He was a co-founder of Troutman Help Ministries and founder of the Troutman Food Bank Ministry, Wood Ministries and Meals on Wheels for senior citizens. He is survived by his son, Frank Williams, Jr. (Kim) of Statesville; his daughters, Pam Mills (Lynn) and Lynn Chance (David), both of Statesville; two sisters, Carolyn Freeland and Janice Finkenstadt; one brother, Robert Williams; seven grandchildren, Brandon Mills (Carla), Amber Dominguez (Noe), Shelly McCoy (Josh), Sarah Williams, Megan Norris (Scott), Will Chance and Emily Chance; and ten great-grandchildren, Landon and Adalyn Mills, Deacon Dominguez, Josie, Journey and Job McCoy, and Skylar, Emma, Dilynn and Weston Norris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Mason, and two brothers, Grady Williams, Jr. and Johnny Williams. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at Fallstown Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Troutman and Brandon Mills officiating. Burial will follow the service at Iredell Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donors bring non-perishable food items to the visitation for contribution to the Troutman Food Bank in memory of and in tribute to Frank. Donations may be made in Frank's memory to Troutman Help Ministries, P.O. Box 151, Troutman, NC 28166 or Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625. The family would like to extend their sincere gratefulness for the loving care and kindness given to their father by the in-home caregivers and staff of Gordon Hospice House. Frank will be missed greatly. He was always looking out for the unfortunate, espcially the widows. Troutman will have a big void to fill. Remember the good times and know that he is much better off and is waiting for all of you to join him and Jane.
