Franklin Eugene "Hank" Borders

Franklin Eugene Borders, 47, affectionately known as "Hank," of 908 8th Street, Statesville, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008. He was born in Iredell County, Feb. 20, 1961, and was the son of Blanche Ikard Borders and the late James Franklin Borders. He attended the Iredell-Statesville Schools. In addition to his mother, Blanche Borders, survivors include his children, Kearston Weaver, Keeta Borders, Litisha Barber, Kapetrae Simpson Lyerly, Frederick Borders and Tellie Turner; three brothers, James Edward Borders of High Point, Samuel "Pete" Ikard and Randolph Borders, both of Statesville; three sisters, Jennie I. McRae of Taylorsville, Rebecca Ikard of Washington, D.C., and Janice Cloud of Statesville; nine grandchildren, Ali Weaver, Najea Weaver, MiYanah Torrence, Mark Tulloch, Ki'Mirion Barber, Kanariah Barber, Sacoya Simpson, Enisha Lyerly, and Lamonte Lyerly; a host of nieces, including a special niece, La'Nesia Ikard Bell, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends, including two special friends, Michelle Turner and Cassandra Robinson. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at the Mary B. Bigham Memorial Chapel, Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. The Reverend Charles Simpson will officiate and Minister Wade Ikard will eulogize. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. The body will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home where members of the family will receive friends, from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, but will assemble at the residence of his mother, Blanche Borders, 388 Medlin St., at other times.
