Geneva "Gee" Chambers Lange passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, after a massive stroke, with her family by her side. She was 80.
Born in Knoxville, Tenn., on Sept. 8, 1928, Gee attended the Tennessee School for the Deaf.
Upon graduation, she went on to attend Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. She was avid basketball player at TSD and Gallaudet. While at Gallaudet she fell in love with Bob Lange and elected to become a wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband, Bob, of 57 years; two daughters, Wendy and Camy; and two sons, Andy and his wife, Kelly, and Billy and his wife, Amy; as well as four grandchildren, Eric (and his mother, Andy's former wife, Sue), Brooke, Kyle and Katie Jude.
Gee and Bob loved to travel to visit family and friends and attended their children and grandchildren's sports events all around the world. A longtime resident of the Island, she loved St. Augustine, the beaches, the lighthouse and the yard sales. She loved to look for shark teeth and shells on the beach. She worked at the Dragon's Lair at Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind for five years.
A memorial service will be held on the beach off the A Street ramp at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008. Gee's favorite color was blue, so wear something blue.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Geneva Chambers Lange Fund, c/o TSD Athletic Association, Dick Henley, AD, 2725 Island Home Blvd., Knoxville, TN 27920. (Checks payable to PTCA or TSD Athletic Fund).
We love and miss you, Gee: Wife, Mom, Grandma, Aunt and Friend.

Mommy, I still miss you! I love you very much! My kids are growing up. Brooke will be senior this fall. I just wish you are still here to see her graduate next May. Kyle will be freshman this fall. He is still growing - almost 6 feet now. They both are still active in sports and very excel in academics too! I know you will be very proud of them. I just wish that you are still around to see them! I miss you... Love,
Hetty

Just learned of your mom's and wife's passing. It tucked my heart...my heart goes out to you all. I have fond memories of your mom and wife. I first met her back in 78 before Andy and I traveled to Calif. She gave me a shark tooth which I have always treasured. I thought she was one of the most sweetest woman I've ever met. I feel lucky to have known her and can see she has touched so many hearts. May the wonderful memories of her be of some comfort to you all. She'll always close to you in all your hearts.

Hello the Langes
I am very sorry to hear about your mother and wife, Geneva. Camy's dog, Picasso is happy with her in heaven. I will miss Picasso because he was our mascot at our golf tourneys, especially the last one in Penna last Memorial Day weekend and at Camy's lake house. I was glad that I got to know Geneva later in her life. She was such a wonderful lady who loved her family very much. Picasso and Geneva are up there looking after the family. Both are in my thoughts.

The Lange family,
Our condolences go to you in a thought of Geneva Lange's rest in peace. "Gee" had touched many of our lives to get socialized with sign language users. At last time we chatted with Geneva and her humorous husband Bob at Atlanta National Deaf Women Conference in 1995.
We share a poem in our hearts with you.
We thought of you with love today,
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday,
And the days before that, too.
We think of you in silence.
We often speak your name.
Now all we have is memories,
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake.
With which we’ll never part.
God has you in His Keeping.
We have you in our Hearts.
God bless you all,
Yvonne Williams

My old schoolmates, Wendy and Camy, my old inspirated teacher, Bob, once I heard the news, I immediately looked back to old, sweet memories at TSD and really, really appreciated those times I shared with you. My open-hearted sympathy to you beautiful family, your mother and wife was always inspired to me because of old history at TSD regarding your grandmother Alberta and Great Aunt Dr. Poore.
