Jeff was born in New Brunswick, N.J. , on Aug. 4, 1945. He graduated from the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, N.J. and from Rutgers University with a degree in Economics and Business Administration.
He was employed by Johnson & Johnson for 37 years and in 1985 moved to Jacksonville, Fla., as Director of Information Services for Vistakon. Most recently, Jeff served as Director, Global Systems. He holds several patents in the area of software development.
In 1991, the family moved to Palm Valley renovating an old Victorian home which they had transported from Jacksonville by barge and which now is famous to boaters who travel along the Intercoastal Waterway in Florida for its beauty.
An avid boater and pilot himself, Jeff has held several New Jersey glider soaring records. Well known for his colorful stories relating his numerous escapades, he will also be remembered for his enthusiastic participation in local Lighted Boat Parades.
He traveled around the world extensively with his wife and daughter and, for the past nine years, he and his family have spent their summers cruising the Bahamas.
His zest for life, his intelligence, generosity, and sense of fun, as well as his devotion to his family have always set him apart from the crowd.
Jeff leaves his wife of 21 years, Maureen (Nee Pugh) and their 15 year old daughter, Amanda. He is also survived by his parents, Lucille and Donald Van Doren of Jacksonville and by his sisters, Holly Schoenknecht and Lisa Alexander of Whidbey Island, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either The Mayo Foundation, 4500 San Pablo Road, Jacksonville FL 32224 or Community Hospice of North East Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.

Maureen and Amanda, we have just learned of Jeff's illness and death. It's inconceivable that something like this could happen to a family as closeknit as yours and to a man who had such a flair for life. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.

Jeff was smart and always cool. Our long talks about when to retire led me to retire very early. I wish he'd done the same. He'll be missed by me and many others. R.I.P.
