Jill Leslie Whaley, 61, of Jacksonville, died on Feb. 28, 2011, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville.
Born in Jackson Heights, Long Island, N.Y., she had been a resident of St. Augustine since moving here from Bridgewater, Maine, as a young child. She attended local schools, graduating from St. Augustine High School/Class of 1968 and attended St. Johns River Community College. For more than 20 years, Jill worked as a nurse at the Malcom Randall V.A. Medical Center and later as a private home healthcare worker.
For the past 10 years, she worked as a dispatcher for Ambulance Service Inc. (ASI) in Jacksonville.
She is survived by a son, Chad William Whaley (Robin), of Callahan; a daughter, Diane Brooke Whaley-Stephens, of St. Augustine; her mother, Edna G. Nesbit, of St. Augustine; sister, Diane N. Mills (Jerry), St. Augustine; grandchildren, Brandy, Josh, Jeromy, Stormie Rein, Jeremy "J.R." and Summer Rose; nephews, Greg Mills, St. Augustine, Christopher and Taylor Nesbit, Jacksonville; nieces, Samantha Nesbit, St. Augustine, and Kristina Whitlock, Morristown, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her father, William E. Nesbit, her twin brother, John L. "Jack" Nesbit, and brother, Glenn Nesbit.
Services will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at McDowell Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Clarence Blalock officiating. A visitation beginning at 4 p.m. will precede the service.
St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Chad and Brooke, I am so very sorry for the loss of your mom. I just found out today, 04/19/11, that she had passed away. My heart aches for each of you.
Mrs. Edna I'm very sorry for the loss of your daughter, Jill. I knew here many years from being in Starke.
To everyone else in Jill's family, please accept my heartfelt condolences on her passing. May she rest in peace. I will be praying for you all.
