Margot Cavell Reid, 69, of Hastings, passed away peacefully at her home following a six-year battle with cancer.
She was born in Jacksonville and grew up in St. Augustine. She had been a resident of Hastings for the past 34 years, coming from St. Augustine. She was a 1957 graduate of the Ketterlinus High School in St. Augustine and was also a graduate of the Jones Business College in Jacksonville. Mrs. Reid worked for the State of Florida for many years. She managed the Trinity Chapel Day Care Center in St. Augustine for six years and then worked at the Farmer's Supply Co. in Hastings for 14 years. She enjoyed crocheting and fishing and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Reid is survived by her husband of 34 years, Dow D. Reid, Jr. of Hastings; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Cheryl Bailey of Palm Coast, and Tony and Melissa Bailey of Lake City; a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Jill and David Carpenter of St. Augustine; two stepsons and daughters-in-law, Buddy and Tedra Reid, and Stephen and Joann Reid, all of Hastings; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Thelma and Donnie Ford of St. Augustine, and Shirley and Henry Thomas of Lake Butler; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2008 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Masters Funeral Home of Palatka with Pastor Tim Hall officiating. Private committal services will follow in the Palatka Memorial Gardens.
