Nancy Trela passed away peacefully at her son's home on Oct. 31, 2007.
Nancy was born in Albany, N.Y., on Aug. 1, 1925, to Mary Curran Collins and Edward F. Collins. She was educated in the Schenectady, N.Y., school system.
Nancy received her B.S. in nursing from The College of St. Rose in Albany and did graduate work in nursing at Russell Sage College in Troy, N.Y. She spent most of her professional life in public health nursing and served for many years as a director of the Visiting Nurses Association of Rennselaer County, N.Y. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
After retiring in 1987, Nancy and her husband, John, moved to St. Augustine.
She was most proud of her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, John Trela, and her son, Jack Trela.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Gregory, and her husband, Ben, of Clifton Park, N.Y.; son, Brian Trela and his wife, Dawn, of St. Augustine; daughter-in-law, Kathy Trela of St. Augustine; grandchildren, Bridgette, Matthew, Stephanie, Brian, Robbie, Kelly, Pete, Maggie and Brittany; and seven great-grandchildren.
Nancy was a communicant of St. Anastasia Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be held at Dufresne and Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Latham, N.Y., on Nov. 4, 2007, followed the next day by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Latham. A Memorial Mass will be offered at St. Anastasia Catholic Church at a later date.

Brian & Family, Very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing, I remember her from when we were young and always thought of her as a very nice person, I would attend the service but unfortunatly I will be out of town on business.

I worked with Nancy many years ago at Visiting Nurses in Troy- I am very sorry to hear of her passing.
