On Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, our beloved Patricia Ann Roberson was called to rest.
She was born on Sept. 8, 1948, to the late Johnnie and Florence Ferrell. Pat was born and raised in St. Augustine, Fla., and graduated from Richard J. Murray High School.
She married Wilber Roberson on Feb. 24, 1968. She began work as a teacher's assistant at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind in 1968. Pat obtained a bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Flagler College in 1976 and began working as a teacher in the St. Johns County School District. She then earned her master's of education degree from the University of North Florida and became an assistant principal at Hartley Elementary School in 1982. She became principal of Hartley Elementary School in 1987.
Pat served as a principal there until she became the director of personnel for the St. Johns County School District in 1996, the position she held until her retirement in 2003.
Pat was a member of Florida Council on Elementary Education, Phi Delta Kappa, St. Johns County Minority Recruitment Committee, the Order of the Eastern Star and St. Johns County Health Advisory Board of SJCSD. She also assisted in developing, organizing and training personnel in facilitating P.A.T.S. and Ethnic Cultural Unity Study Program.
Pat designed and facilitated many academic, discipline and minority recruitment programs that were recognized on the state level. Pat also had the honor of marching with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and was one of many jailed with him during his march here in St. Augustine.
Her accolades are numerous, but the one she considered to be the greatest was being a born-again Christian.
She leaves to cherish the memories of her life her loving and devoted husband of 41 years, Wilber C. Roberson Sr.; sons, Wilber C. Roberson Jr. (Felecia) and Barry T. Williams (Tasha); daughter, Shanette K. Roberson; brothers, Johnnie Ferrell (Shirley), Fort Wayne, Ind., and Kyra C. Ferrell (Rhoda); sisters, Juanita Lewis (Carl), Florence Williams (Alvoid), Bertha Elmore, Constance Fulwood (Ernest) and Delores G. Rogers; grandchildren, Danyel S. Roberson, Jaiden Roberson, Jillian Roberson, Jamir Williams, Joiah Roberson and Arianna Johnson; and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives.
The wake will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Family Worship Center, with services at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Funeral services are entrusted to Leo C. Chase Funeral Home.

Pat was a “Light” for all to see, and the “Salt” of St. Augustine. The Spirit of the Living God was upon her. Whenever I visited St. Augustine, I could always count on Godly words of wisdom from her. She was an example of what we all should be like. “Prefect in Him”

To Wilber and his children; We are never prepared for the loss of a loved one,but God is always prepared to help us through that loss.Sometimes,it's the little things that help us cope with loss-a photograph, a passing memory,a kindness that meant so much, all these things will help sustain us,but remember god said in his word I will never leave you comfortless:I will come to you.(John 14:18)His presence will begin the healig in your soul as his love surrounds you with comfort only he can give.I will miss Doll!

Wilbur, Charlie and Shanette,
As you all know I loved Doll and was always glad to share the many memories that we had over the years with her. The last time that I saw her was about a year ago and she was so happy to show me the progress that she was making and all of the accomodations that you (Wilbur)made for her in the house. It was simply beautiful. Although I cannot be with you in the flesh, my thoughts and prayers are certainly with you during this difficult time.

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
