Joseph McGowan Obituary

Funeral service for Joseph Franklin "Red" McGowan, 53, was Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 2 p.m., Lemley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Pat Giles and Bro. Herman Osborn officiating. Interment will be in Straight Mountain Memory Gardens. Mr. McGowan passed away October 5, 2011 at UAB Hospital. He was an assistant foreman at Miller Wire Works and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, in Argo. His parents were Joseph Roland McGowan and Geneva Donella Osborn McGowan. He is preceded in death by his mother Geneva Donella Osborn McGowan. Survivors are his wife, Holly Allman McGowan, Argo; father, Joseph R. McGowan, Argo; sons David R. McGowan, Argo and Joseph R. "Joey" McGowan, II (Tracey), Ashville; grandsons, Jareth D. McGowan, Pinson and Colin S. Auclair, Ashvlle; brother, James R. McGowan; children at heart, Rex Allen Ware, Ashville, Wendy McGowan, Pinson, Lili Phillips, Argo, and Melissa Phillips, Argo; loving niece and nephew, Herbie and Jeanine Martin, Oneonta; great niece and nephew, Hayden and Sadie Martin, Oneonta. Honorary pallbearers are Colin S. Auclair and Jareth D. McGowan. Lemley Funeral Home & Crematory directed the service.

i just seen candy and she told me about red my prayers are with you and boys. take one day at a time. i will think of red everytime i open a pepsi as always all my love and prayers

To the McGowans,
I am not sure that you will remember me since you have seen so many nurses and other medical staff during your stay at UAB. I was Mr. McGowan's patient care tech the day after he was put in NICU and then again a few weeks later. I am very sorry for your loss and I was very upset when I saw that he had passed. Please know I am praying for all of y'all. May God bless you, and heal you during this time.
