Carol Nelson Obituary

Carol J. Nelson, 65, of Plover died on Sunday Jan. 15, 2012, at the Stevens Point Care Center.

She was born June 18, 1946, to the late David and Mildred (Meyer) Muench in Cascade. She was raised and educated in Marshfield. On Aug. 11, 1984, she married her soulmate, John A. Nelson. They relocated to Tucson, Ariz. for 12 years and then moved back to Plover to be closer to family. For many years, she was a foster parent in Tucson and here in Portage County.

During her youth, she and her younger sisters formed a vocal group that performed at many events and won many awards. She loved to sing and during her senior year of high school she was selected to join a college choral group from UW-Eau Claire on a tour of Europe.

Carol is survived by her husband, John, Plover; her children, Stephanie (Michael) Pflager, Plover, Becki (Patrick) McCauley, Browntown, Jacob (Patsy) Nelson, Plover, Caylor Nelson, Stevens Point and Kianna Nelson, Irma; her grandchildren, Katie and Olivia Pflager, Joshua Hoffmann, Staci Seefeld, Cody and Cassidy Pivonka, and Michael Sadowska; and two great-granddaughters, Trinity and Bridget. She is further survived by her sisters, Pat (Len) Theide, Ames, Iowa, Sue (Bill) Fruehbrodt, Marshfield and Jan (Larry) Westbrook, Oklahoma City, Okla.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a son, David Mitchell.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
