Clarence Glinski Obituary

Clarence F. Glinski, 85, of Stevens Point, passed away on Sunday, 0ct. 30, 2011, at Ministry St. Michael's Hospital.

He was born on June 1, 1926, the son of the late Theodore and Rose (Kulas) Glinski. He attended Stevens Point area schools.

On May 30, 1944, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Mr. Glinski was a crewman on board the U.S.S. Yorktown, which was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation. While serving our country, Glinski earned the American Area Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic Area Ribbon five Stars, Philippine Liberation Area Ribbon one Star and the Purple Heart. Clarence was honorably discharged from the Navy on June 7, 1946.

On November 11, 1947, he married the former Leone Guzman. She survives. They have two children, Allen (Susan) Glinski of Wisconsin Rapids and Marilee (Thomas) Kort of Bolingbrook Ill; three grandchildren, Ann (Phillip) Hartley, Joseph (Maisee) Glinski and Kimberly Kort; five great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Maria Hartley, Britney Rude, Benjamin Glinski and Mouahlou Xiong.

Mr. Glinski was an employee of Consolidated Papers, Stevens Point division for 36 years retiring as a millwright in 1988. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and card player.

Clarence has one surviving brother, Harold (Eileen) Glinski of Kaukauna. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Florian and one sister, Adeline.

Clarence was a member of the American Legion Post 6 and Knights of Columbus Council #1170.

Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point. The Rev Robert Letona officiating. Burial with full military honors at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Wednesday from 9:00am until time of service. American Legion Ritual will be at 6:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus will combine with the general rosary Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
