Colleen Berg Obituary
Colleen (Hansen) Berg, loving wife of Norbert H. Berg, passed away peacefully at her home, Oakridge Senior Living Community, Stevens Point, WI, on April 29, 2013.
Colleen was born in LaCrosse, WI on December 29, 1929 to the late Leo and Helen (Larson) Hanson. She was a 1947 graduate of LaCrosse Aquinas Catholic High School. Colleen went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse with a degree in teaching. She taught second grade at Shawano Elementary School. Colleen married Norbert H. Berg on June 17, 1950 in LaCrosse, WI. They lived in Shawano after they married and then moved to Atlanta, GA. In 1962 they moved to Wausau and made it their home for 40 years until moving to Stevens Point to be closer to family.
Colleen was very active at the YMCA. She volunteered for 31 years as an instructor/trainer for the water exercise program as well as the Learn To Swim program. She was also on the YMCA Women's Committee and Board of Directors. Colleen was also the Assistant Director at the Wausau Children's Theater. Colleen was an avid bridge player and she loved bingo, walking, water exercise and especially her dogs.
Survivors include her husband Norbert H. Berg of Stevens Point; daughter Elizabeth (Wayne) Drifka of Stevens Point; grandchildren Heath (Dezarae) Hartwig of Glendale, WI and Jennifer (John) Feildhouse of Redlands, CA; great grandchildren Beckett and Esme Hartwig and Jude Fieldhouse; and her grand dogs Newman and Floyd.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Barbara Berg and her Pomeranian Ginger and grand dog Harvey.
Funeral Service will take place at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau. The Rev. Wes Jedras will officiate. Visitation will take place from 3:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of Marathon County 7001 Packer Drive, Wausau, WI 54401.
Colleen would like to be remembered for the love of her critters and her years of volunteering.
Elizabeth and Norb would like to thank St. Michaels Hospital Ministry Medical Doctors, Nurses, Staff and especially the kind and caring Hospice Nurses, for the wonderful care they gave to the whole family during Colleen's journey Home.

Norb, Beth, and family..... Sorry to see of Colleen's passing. I hadn't seen her in many years, but remember many happy days with her involvement with WCT and Children's Theater.. She was quite the organizer and producer.
