David Kornegay Obituary
David Linn Kornegay, 68, of Wausau; the beloved husband of the late Cynthia Hummel; loving father of Holly (Pat) Knutson of Tampa, FL; grandfather of Xavior and Nylah Knutson; and stepfather to Graham (Jackie) and Noah Hummel-Hall, died on Monday, June 27, 2016 while at his home.
After graduating in 1970 from IIT, David became a respected Hydro Electric Engineer who worked on numerous engineering facilities worldwide. Over the course of his career he worked for companies based in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Illinois. His professionalism and dry wit were greatly valued by all that knew him.
David is further survived by his siblings, Sharon Kornegay of Beaverton, OR, Mary Lou Griggs of Tucson, AZ, John Kornegay of Chicago, IL and Sheila Wray of Sydney, Australia. He is further survived by his nieces and nephews, Tracy Bessette, Derek Whitehead, and James Griggs and their children.
David was preceded in death by his loving wife; parents, Clarence and Edith Kornegay; brother, Thomas and his brother-in-law Keith Wray.
A memorial service will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Brainard Funeral Home-Wausau Chapel, 522 Adam Street. The Rev. Wes Jedras will officiate. Visitation will start at 1:00 pm and will continue following services with an open mic for those who want to share words.

Dave was a kind soul just as his wife Cindy. Even though he was our neighbor for a short time, he will be missed. He touched our lives in a positive sense just as Cindy did and we will never forget them. Our hearts go out to his family in this time of sorrow. May the memories you have shared soften the heartache from this loss. Take care!
