I remember Dennis when I lived in Wisconsin and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. My love and prayers to his family, even a year after his passing.

Dennis Bonikowske was my Sunday School teacher, English teacher and debate coach. I am grateful for all that I learned from him, not only through his excellent teaching, but also through the example of his care, dedication and encouragement. What I will miss the most are the conversations we have had over the years since high school, in which he always showed himself to be the most enthusiastic fan of all his former students, delighted with the joys of their lives and excited to see all the good they would do.

He was my debate and forensics coach at PJ Jacobs HS and SPASH. There were many cold mornings when he got up early and personally drove our team in a school bus to tournaments throughout the stateno small sacrifice since he was not even paid for this. He signed my yearbook when I graduated in 1974, and to this day I read with affection those encouraging words. Dennis Bonikowske was a dedicated teacher, mentor, coach and public servant. While he will be missed, he will live on in the hearts and minds of those he touched.

Dennis was a prolific left hand hitter, great to have in the lineup. We will miss him for so many reasons.
