Irene Jakusz Obituary
Stevens Point - Irene (Granma Rocker) Jakusz of Stevens Point passed away on June 24, 2021 at home under the care of Hospice and family members. She lived with her daughter Diane, and son-in-law Stephen for the past 22 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Irene will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday July 1, 2021 at St. Philip the Apostle Parish Rudolph. Friends and relatives will gather to share memories from 9:00 AM until the time of services Thursday at the church. Burial will be in at the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Shuda Funeral Services is assisting the family.
Irene was born on September 25, 1920 to Edward and Regina (Firkus) Laskowski. On July 28, 1945 she married Leonard (Murphy) Jakusz. The couple raised two daughters, Sandra (Larry) Coulthurst and Diane (Steve) Koback.
Before her health limited her activities she enjoyed traveling, crocheting, playing cards, painting ceramics, and rocking all her grandchildren (Hence the nickname, Grandma Rocker).
Irene was preceded in death by her mother and father, Edward and Regina Lakowski, her husband Leonard (Murphy) Jakusz, grandson Gary Coulthust, brothers; Adolph, Gerald, and Eugene Laskowski, Sisters; Ester (Frank) Lawler Ernestine (Myron) Herman.
Besides her two daughters, she is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren .
Grandchildren: Larry Coulthurst, Lora (Rob) Issacson, Joe (Kathe) Koback, Jim (Renee) Koback, Kevin (Jenni) Koback, Keith Koback and Matt Szelowski.
Great-Grandchildren: Dustin, Gary, Danny, Jesse, Issac, Jacob, Travis, Kendra, Bri Ann, Bryce, Casey, Derrick, Danielle, Dalton, Devin, Deacon, and Dayden.
Great-Great-Grandchildren; Malaki, Sandra, Lyra, Lucas, Millicent, Beau, Owen, Cheyllen, Kenzlie, Addilyn, Bentley, Brayden, Bennett, Paisley, Aurora, and Easton.
A special thank you to Compassus Hospice and grandchildren Lora, Isaacson, Kendra Koback and Devin Koback for all the hours of loving care given to Grandma Rocker.
