James Pliska Obituary

Pliska, James (Jim)

James (Jim) Pliska, 70, former resident of Stevens Point, Wis., peacefully passed away at his home, surrounded by family, in Spring Hill, Fla., on Sept. 22, 2012. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by so many. Jim was born Sept. 14, 1942, in Custer, Wis. He graduated from P.J. Jacob HS in 1960. He then served in the U.S. Army until 1963. Upon return, he completed a union apprenticeship and worked as a pipe fitter and welding instructor. Jim resided in the Stevens Point area, until moving to Florida in 1983. He worked for Covanta Energy for 19 years as a Boiler Repair Quality Control Manager before retiring in 2010. Jim enjoyed gardening, fishing and sports. He was an avid Packers and TB Rays fan. Recently, he enjoyed attending his three youngest granddaughters' softball games. Most importantly, he cherished spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Rochelle; daughter, Karla; son, Kevin (Tracy); and six grandchildren, Bradley (Sherie), Jeannette, Amber, Isabel, Ellie, Olivia, and one great-grandson, Aiden. He is also survived by his sister, Marie (Emil) Kuzynski; as well as many caring nephews, nieces and sisters/brothers-in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Clara; sister, Lorraine; and brother, Robert.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HPH Hospice Hernando or American Heart Assoc. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, Sept. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Brewer & Sons, 280 Mariner Boulevard, Spring Hill, FL. 352-688-4991
