Robert Brooks Obituary
Robert W. Brooks, age 90, of Plover, died July 4, 2015 at North Ridge Assisted Living in Stevens Point.
Robert was born on July 21, 1924 to the late William & Ona (Cater) Brooks in Mosinee, WI. He attended the local schools, and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School.
Bob enlisted into the U. S. Navy on November 26, 1943. He attended Naval classes in Minneapolis, MN and Farragut, ID for electrical. Bob served in the Pacific earning his Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, and American Area Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged on April 22, 1946.
He married Maurita Coulthurst on February 8, 1947 at the Plover United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on June 1, 2008.
Following his service in the Navy, he began working for Consolidated Papers. He retired after 40 years as a Machine Operator.
Bob was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 6. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding horses in his younger years, participating in local horse shows, golfing, spending time with family, and taking trips cross country.
Survivors include children, Robert (Judy) Jr. Brooks of Amherst, Jack (Cheryl) Brooks of Rosholt, Deborah (Glen) Kniprath of Rudolph, and Rebecca (Dan) Scheideler of Sioux Falls, SD; siblings, Arvilla Wentworth, Jane Wherritt, Donald (Lyn) Brooks, Eunice (Red) Lasecki, Dale (Diane) Brooks, and Rhody (Charlotte) Brooks; grandchildren, Michael, Natalie, Reed, Brett, Christy, Ryan, Megan, Joshua, Jason, Dustin, and Andrea. He is further survived by great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Shailyn, Kaylie, Makenna, Boone, Emma, Savannah, Derek, Bryson, Trenton, Abigail, Madelyn, Chashton, Bella, and two on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maurita; granddaughter, Lara Brooks; great-grandson, Michael Brooks; and brother, James Brooks.
A Funeral Service will be held 12 Noon on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Boston Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Hintzman presiding. Visitation will precede the funeral from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will conclude in Maine Cemetery, Plover.
The family would like to thank the staff at North Ridge Assisted living for the wonderful care given to Bob.

When I think of the Brooks family....I think back on the local parades when I was a kid. Mr Brooks as well as other family members riding in on their beautiful horses. My deepest sympathy to the entire Brooks family. Thank you for the memories.
