Vernon Jakusz Obituary
Vernon F. Jakusz, age 87, of Stevens Point died Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King.
Vern was born June 20, 1927 in Stevens Point to Victor and Agnes (Firkus) Jakusz. He married Shirley Jacobson on September 3, 1949 in Stevens Point. She preceded him in death. Vern worked for Consolidated Papers until retirement in 1981. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines and the U.S. Air Force with the 40th Bomb Squad. He was a longtime and dedicated member of The American Legion. Vern enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching sports and the Price is Right.
Vern is survived by three sons, Kurt of Asheville, NC, William (Cheryl) of Stevens Point, Glen (Valerie) of Madison, WI and a daughter, Mary Kay (Guy) Schiefelbein of Milton, WI, 8 grandchildren; Grant, Sarah, Tracy, Jesse, Emily, Alex, Patricia and Jamie, and several great grandchildren, one sister in-law, Dorothy (Frank) Pisarski and longtime friend and companion, Delores Block.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Shirley: two sisters and three brothers.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the Staff of Wisconsin Veterans Home at King and Hospice Care.
It is Vern's wish not to have any services or Celebration of Life.
