Robert "Bob" Ryder

1935 - 2024

Robert Ryder, 88, of Columbus, Montana passed away on January 24, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Bob was born on November 7, 1935 to Frank & Myrtle Ryder in Newburgh, New York.

Bob met the love of his life, Flora, in 1959, and after knowing her for only seven days, he proposed. Flora said that Bob was a true gentleman and on the eighth day they were married. They enjoyed a happy life together and brought forth five children who enriched their lives.

Bob would often say that true happiness for him and Flo began when they became Jehovah's Witnesses. Bob was baptized in 1971, and for the rest of his life, they served Jehovah God side by side. Bob loved the truths found in the Bible and cherished the hope it gave him for the future. No matter where he was or what he was doing he never hesitated to share the Bible's message with others.

Affectionately known by many as "Basketball Bob", he was known for his love of the game as well as the time and energy he volunteered in sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generation.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of almost 65 years, Flora; and his sister Dorothy McCarey of New York; as well as 4 of his children, and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Bob was a quiet and gentle man and will always be remembered for his love of Jehovah God, his family, and his friends. He was a wonderful husband and a great father and grandfather. He was a good man and will be missed. He firmly believed, as do we, that death is temporary and that very soon he will awaken from sleep on a peaceful, perfect earth and we will all be together again - Revelation 21:4.

We will gather together on February 3, 2024 at 2pm to remember him and his wonderful hope for the future. Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 43 Centennial Road, Columbus, Montana.
