DENNIS EARL SHELLUM Dennis Earl Shellum, 67, of St. James died on January 28, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in St. James. Visitation will be on Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Sturm Funeral & Cremation Services where the funeral will be held at 1 p.m. The clergy will be Rev. Andy Hermodson-Olsen. Interment will be at St. Olaf Church Cemetery-Odin in Rural Odin. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in St. James. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com. Dennis Earl Shellum was born on December 21, 1955, to Marland and Leona (Durheim) Shellum in the Madelia hospital. He was baptized at East Sveadahl Lutheran Church and was confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. He graduated from Butterfield High School in 1974 and went on to attend Hutchinson Vocational School studying auto mechanics. He then worked at car dealerships in the St. James area and at Midwest Auto Pros in Mankato until his retirement. In 2018, he moved in with his mom and enjoyed the past five years of their companionship. Dennis recently purchased his own home. He spent a lot of time fishing and for many years raced at Thunder Valley in South Dakota and Brainerd Motor Speedway with his brother Steve. He enjoyed spending time with family visiting, playing cards and with pride, watching his niece and nephews grow up. He found great joy in sharing stories with his great-nieces and nephews. Dennis is survived by his mother, Leona Shellum of Mt. Lake; sister, Jeanette (Dan) Sturm of St. James; sister-in-law, Debbie Shellum of Sartell; niece and nephews, Tracy Shellum of Minneapolis, Josh (Anne) Sturm, Jacob (Katy) Sturm, Kyle (Amanda) Sturm and Kaleb Sturm, all of St. James; great-nieces and nephews, Michael (friend Hannah Holtz), Brayden, Jaxson, Jonas, Lauren, Avery, Emmett, Braxton and Audra Sturm; uncles, Noren Durheim of Madelia and Daryl (Sharon) Durheim of Arden Hills and many more cousins. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Marland Shellum and brother Steve Shellum.
