I had the absolute pleasure of knowing Alison and the Kunsemiller family during their time on Lookout Mountain. Alison was such a talented diver, but I will always remember her smiling and how kids just had a way of gravitating her direction. It was certainly a community loss when the Kunsemillers moved away, but I know Alison packed a lot into her 35 years. My thoughts and prayers have been with you all.

Alison was Lillian’s first daycare teacher. It was an instant bond between them that went way beyond the classroom. The more we got to know her the more we adored her. Lillian has so many special memories. We have feel so incredibly lucky to have her in our lives. May her wonderful smile always be with you. Much love, Lillian, Tracy and Vince

I was lucky enough to be assigned as Alison’s roommate our freshman year of college at Maryville. God has a way of working because I don’t think I could have picked a more compatible roommate myself. The first day I met Alison moving into our dorm room was probably the only time I ever saw her nervous. She had a love of life, always ready to experience something new. One of my favorite memories of Alison was when she helped me with one of my art projects. I honestly don’t remember what the project was. All I remember was, it dealt with the geese at Maryville. Alison went along with me to take pictures, and in no time we found ourselves chasing the geese. I had become scared of them, since as we got close, they started to hiss and get into attack mode. However, Alison didn’t care whatsoever. I remember wanting to get different pictures of them, and since they were not moving, Alison began running after them. I, in turn, started running after her, afraid they would attack her. I’m sure whoever was watching that day, received a good laugh. We did for sure that day once it was over. One thing I will never forget about Alison was her smile. We would often share stories with one another about silly-embarrassing things we did....she was a great friend in the fact we could always just laugh about anything. We often fell asleep watching re-runs of “Everybody Loves Raymond” or “King of Queens.” Although we didn’t stay roommates the remaining three years, it was always a nice surprise seeing her on campus, and catching up. I always felt we had a special friendship. She was one of those friends that never forgot your birthday. It became a special gift to hear from her every time, and learn what had changed since the last time one of us had a birthday. My heart goes our to her family. She loved you all very much, and spoke about you often when we were together. Even though I never met you Anne, I felt like I knew you well. She spoke about you often.

I am happy to have had Alison in my life.
I first met Alison when she came out to Arizona to visit with her Dad, Dave K, back in “the aughts” circa 2007. As it turned out, we three were all fans of Japanese-style foods and we met for a sushi dinner in Scottsdale shortly after she arrived at Sky Harbor in Phoenix. It was obvious the K’s were a close-knit family and we shared many good times. One of the best times was Alison and John’s wedding in the suburbs of St. Louis. They were obviously happy and in love with their whole lives ahead of them. A relentless tumor cut their time together too short. And now I have no words to console her loss – only happiness to have had Alison briefly in my life.

Dearest Patty,
Although I did not meet Alison in person, through your words when you wrote about her, I fell in love with her beauty, her courage and her passion for life. I know she lives in memories that will be alive for eternity, and yet, I also know it is so difficult to be without the warmth of her hug, affinity of her kiss and fun of two-way-communication. As this story ends, before a new one begins, I would like to thank Alison for the joy she brought to others, which it turn made this a better world.
Mountains of love to you, Dave, John, Conner, Will and Anne

Dear Dave and Patty,

No words can express how sorry I am to hear about the passing of your daughter Alison. Life doesn’t make sense and losing someone so dear as your daughter is painful and traumatic. May her beautiful memories keep your hearts light and may the love from friends and family give you, her husband John, sons Connor and William and sister Anne peace and comfort.

I would like to leave you with the words of the poet Ellen Brenneman, “We can’t know why the lily has so brief a time to bloom in the warmth of sunlight’s kiss upon its face before it folds into its fragrance and bids the world good night to rest its beauty in a gentler place.”

I feel so privileged to have met Alison and although I didn’t know her well, I feel like I did. Though I spent little time with her, I was lucky to know her more fully through her mother and Alison reached out to me several times showing me that she was filled with a joie de vivre that simply emanated from her. What a special woman she was and she will be forever in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. My deepest sympathies especially to Patty, Dave and Anne. My love to you all.
