Uncle Barney was a nice and caring man who showed genuine concern for others. He was blessed with a wonderful family and I know he will be greatly missed. God rest his soul.

We grew up Murdoch neighbors of the wonderful Kilcullens. Our Grandmother, Rose Buddy, lived on Devonshire and was close to Mrs. Kilcullen. I remember delivering Rose's fresh-from-the-oven bread to the Kilcullens. Barney was like our dream big brother. He was always available to us kids, for fun and adventure. He helped build the brick wall behind our house, along the alley. Those were the days of outdoor movies and popcorn at Gualdonis, plays in garages, "school", even "mass" in garages. Baseball and dodge ball in the alleys. Barney always supported us and participated. We so looked up to him, loved him. Few locked their doors in the Fifties, early Sixties. My younger brother Pete was a diehard Barney sidekick. I clearly remember waking up one morning to Pete, not yet five, walking in the front door with doughnuts from the Kilcullens. Pete felt so at home at Kilcullens that he had simply walked down the street after we were all asleep, and had a sleepover at Barney's, who sent him home in the a.m. with breakfast for all. So with Barney's passing, many happy memories of a free and full childhood, when a neighbor was as good as gold, a neighbor like Barney Kilcullen.
