Carlyla Woofter Obituary

Woofter, Carlyla "Carla" (nee Schulz)

May 17, 1927 - August 28, 2025

Carla Woofter of Warson Woods, MO, and later NC, born May 17, 1927, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on August 28th. A native of St. Louis, Carla graduated from Beaumont High School and worked for five years at the Civil Service, assisting WWII veterans. Later she attended college, taught piano and worked alongside her husband, Dr. Glen H. Woofter, in his podiatry practice. She filled her home with great food and music, playing pop and classical piano, pop organ and the accordion. An active member of the Monday Club, she performed in the duo-piano group and handled administrative duties. A talented seamstress, Carla lovingly made clothes for herself and her three daughters. Carla enjoyed bridge, square dancing and traveling with her loving husband, Glen, of 65 years, until his passing in 2014.

The youngest child of Reinhold and Mathilda Doerrer Schulz, Carla was predeceased by her brother, Reine (Thelma) and sister, Grace. She was the loving mother of Caryl (Stephen), Carla (Don), and Janice (Jim); cherished grandmother of Aaron, Amy, Luke (Erika), Loren (John) and Matt (Jamie); great-grandmother of Luke, Bryan and David; aunt to Diane (Gary) and David; dear sister-in-law of the late Betty Woofter; Carla was like a second mother to Ann Therese and treasured friend to many.
