Mr St. James. I just wanted to let you know that on January 31, either 1962 or 1963, you made me the happiest boy on the face of the earth. You, and my parents, gave me best birthday party ever. Plus, the fact, I got outta school early that day. You made me so happy. Now, I'm so sorry on the passing of Cliff St. James. He did some many wonderful things for the city of St. Louis and the people there. To the Scrivener/St. James family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how you feel. However, I will always keep Corky aka Cliff, in my heart. My condolences to you.

My condolences to Chip and the Scrivener family. I spent some time at the Scrivener household being a friend of Chip. Mr. Scrivener was always friendly and pleasant and quick with a joke and a smile and always had time for some conversation and sincere inquiry into what was happening with us. Of course his professional accomplishments are many but these are things I will remember most .

I remember Clif St. James, very well, as I always watched KSD-TV, when I lived in St. Louis, whilst working for TWA. My sincere condolences to his wife and family. May he rest in peace. God bless you, and my deepest sympathy to all of you. Kindest regards, Linda Huthmaker/Torrance, Ca.

Dear Nance -- I had so hoped to be at Clif's service today but am down with an infection. I remember so happily babysitting for your kids in exchange for voice lessons -- such a long time ago, but so meaningful! He was a good man and you and your family have my sincerest thoughts and prayers.

To the ST. JAMES/SCRIVENER FAMILY:
Many of us "baby boomer" generation TV viewers who grew up with CORKY the CLOWN and his "CORKY's COLORAMA" TV show will fondly recall CLIF ST. JAMES, the legendary local TV personality and performer who literally invented a lot of St. Louis' children's popular television in the fledgling days of the medium in the late 1950's thru '70's through his famed CORKY the CLOWN TV persona.
CLIF's warm, personable style, creativity, "makeup" talents, and "off-the cuff," spontaneous children's entertainment abilities made him a hit with many of us and later even our children prior to his "official" retirement! No one could ever replace Clif as CORKY, known to almost three generations of St. Louis kiddie TV viewers and their parents. (Some of the lucky ones among us even got to "sit in" in the Colorama show's studio audience during its early live broadcasts and later video tapings, also at KSD-TV).
CLIF's remarkable jack-of-all-trades "on-air" talents as a broadcaster, narrator, weatherman, newsman, "station identification" voice and all-around TV media star are also fondly remembered by generations of St. Louis TV viewers and KSD-TV (now KSDK) fans.
He was literally one of the St. Louis TV pioneers who pulled whatever broadcast talent was needed "out of his hat" in local TV's early days and beyond to make his station and network broadcast effectively, winning awards for his work.
CLIF was truly a remarkably talented, clever and versatile TV personality precisely when the new developing broadcast medium needed him--from B&W broadcast days to full-color TV in metro St. Louis!
CLIF also generously lent his many talents and efforts to many regional charities and civic causes that will also be remembered by his legion of fans here in metro St. Louis and elsewhere.
May God Grant CLIF Eternal Rest--and CORKY the CLOWN eternal memory among the "kids" past and present of St. Louis--he was truly unforgettable! May you CLIF's family know consolation at this time on his long, well-lived life.
Sincerely,
The Many "Boomer" Viewers and Fans of
the late great
CLIF ST. JAMES of KSD-TV
