Even after 18 years the pain of losing Connie is still as raw as it was the day she died. We were close friends in college, and neighbors in St. Louis.
I miss her dearly. Love to all others who were blessed to have known this lovely soul.

I am numb to learn that Connie is gone. I met Connie, Cliff and Leo (can't recall Cliff or Leo's last name) at the University of Illinois in 1974-75. Rich East graduates, they were wonderful people, full of joy and nonsense.
With her quick mind, Connie was bright, verbal and engaging. It was a long time ago but I remember well that Connie had her act together, and held herself in a very classy manner. I believe she was a journalist major and wanted to be an "impact player".
Kevin, 38 years later I have a fond and vivid recollection of that wonderful, strong, young woman. I wish for you that many of Connie's special talents are evidenced in your daughter.

My condolences to all of Connie's family. I attended St. Irenaeus with Connie Conroy, then Rich East High School. She was always such a positive person and I know she's made a difference in this world for many people. God bless you all and grant you peace, knowing she's made it "home" and it's there she'll await your arrival with that wonderful smile of hers.

I was sick when I learned that Connie was one of those killed in Kirkwood, and she has been in my thoughts ever since. I worked with her at the Globe-Democrat. Always when I thought of her, I smiled. That's the kind of memory I have of her. And, Connie cared.
My deepest sympathy on your loss, on a loss for all of us.

TO ALL OF CONNIE'S FAMILY:
I can't begin to tell you how much we miss Connie here at Maritz. She did so much for our Department, and she cannot be replaced. When Connie did anything, it was by the book. We shared our love for the American Legion Auxiliary, and I was proud to install her and her Officers last September. She held Unit 156 together, and I don't know what they will do without her. People like Connie do not come around very often, and I thank the dear Lord that I was part of her life. My thoughts and prayers go out to Kevin, Lauren, and her whole family.

TO ALL OF CONNIE'S FAMILY:
I cannot begin to tell you how much we already miss Connie here at Maritz. She contributed so much to our Creative Department, and someone like her with her know-how cannot be replaced. I was fortunate to have installed Connie into office as First Vice President and Membership Chairman of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 156. She held that Unit together, and I don't know what they will do without her. No matter what she did or was involved in, she did it by the book. She left us way too soon, and my thoughts and prayers go out to Kevin, Lauren, and her whole family. People like her do not come to us every day, and I am so thankful that she was part of my life.

Dear Kevin and Lauren, and to Connie's entire family:
I remember Connie well from our days at the Globe. I was a newbie--fresh out of college, practically, and she was always so nice and supportive, told and showed me the ropes, and really made me feel like I was part of the gang. We all loved her to pieces! The last time I saw Connie was at the Globe reunion, and we picked up where we left off almost 20 years earlier. She gave me her city council business card, which I still have, and she talked passionately about her work as a council member. Connie's life ended much too soon. Those of us who had the privilege of knowing her during her brief life will always be grateful. With sincere sympathy,

Dear Kevin and Lauren,
Our family met Connie about 3 years ago and we are so glad we got to know her we moved away about 1 year ago and had plans on canvassing for her run for mayor. What a wonderful leader and true friend she was to our family. We will treasure our memories and hold her dear to our hearts. She was a very special lady and had a gift of wit and love. I will always remember how much she cared about our son and two daughters. We should all strive to do something to better our community as Connie did day in and day out. Connie, I will miss you so much.

It took days to absorb the news that my feisty former Globe-Democrat reporting colleague was one of those slain in this incomprehensible -- even to a 30-plus-year journalist -- tragedy. I remember Connie's humor, her strength and her tenacity. I have said to many since learning of this that it would not have surprised me to have read that she wrestled the gun from Thornton's hand and saved her fellow residents. She'll always be a hero to me.

I knew Connie as a colleague at Maritz in the mid 90s. She and I both shared a passion for baseball. A great memory that I have is the time Connie and I arranged a casual hot stove get together with the late Senator Tom Eagleton (The Old Pro), the esteemed author and softball pitcher, Martin Quigley, and baseball's first PR man, Gene Karst (hired by Branch Rickey in 1931) We had a wonderful time that day. I send my condolences to the entire family. God Bless.

To Connie's Family and especially Lauren, Connie touched so many lives in so many ways. I worked with Connie at Maritz for many years and remember her wit and laugh. As a Kirkwood resident I have followed her community contributions and was looking forward to voting Connie in for mayor. What a loss to all of us. The world is a different place without Connie!

Its with a heavy heart
that I give you my regrets.
Connie
surely was loved by many
she was loved by
each of you
To have her torn from
your midst
is more than one can stand.
I pray you
not lose faith
Because we are in a fallen world
Connie in her goodness
will never be gone from your thoughts
I pray for your healing
I pray for your children
For Connie's legacy
lives on in each of you.

I am so sorry to hear of the tragic loss of Connie Carr, who I knew as Connie Conroy. We went to high school together, and I remember her as smart, funny, and hardworking.
