The older I get, the more I realize the gifts I have been given that I did not appreciate when I received them. My teachers at Nolan, especially - as he was then - Brother David Paul was among the greatest. But I am pretty sure I exasperated the hell out of him most of the time. Thanks, Brother David. If God is; go with God.

Six decades down the road, what I most remember about Brother (Father) David Paul is his earnestness and dedication to doing good. He was always - as they say at NASA - "throttle up" when it came to anyone who needed encouragement or anything that needed saying or doing to make a bit of good happen in this world.

Brother David was a year older than I and we lived in the Scholasticate for a year. We met up again as the community of 4 which opened Nolan in 1961. He broke me in as a teacher and gave me good advice. I was blessed to be with him that year and have always admired him. I know the last years had been tough for him and I have kept him in my prayers. May he rest in peace, Bro. Edward Loch, SM

Father David was Brother David in 1961 when I first knew him at Nolan HS. He was one of my life heroes then and remains so to this day. I wish I had had the chance to tell him how much I admired, respected and loved him before he died. If there is life after death and a just God, Father David rests in glory waiting to be joined by those he loved. Paul R. Schattman, Ph.D. Nolan Catholic High School, Class of 1965
