. . . and so it ends.
It is a long way for Don from southern Missouri and I from Webster Groves, MO.
One of Don's favorite remarks after one of his many good golf shots was: "I didn't get it all". We still use Don's line on the golf course to this day and it always causes us to think about a Don Dietz story. And it still will. Pax vobiscum.

Don Dietz will surely be missed. He was the ultimate salesman. If his sales pitch on the job was anywhere as good as off the job,he must have won many awards.
My fondest memory of Don was when he joined the trips I ran on Memorial Day week-ends at Hilton Head for tennis and golfing fun. This went on for about 10 years, and Don was always in rare form. I'll also miss him from our days in the Ann Arbor Ski Club.
You just can't replace guys like that.

My deepest sympathy to the family. I knew Don from the A2 Ski Club as well. He coached the Women's Slow Curves Softball Team for a couple of years. He was tough and there was definitely some crying in softball but it was because he wanted us to win. At Ski Club parties he always made sure the new women members danced. He had a soft heart and I will miss his friendship.

I knew Don as a neighbor at Lakeview Estates and through the Ann Arbor Ski Club. Besides golfing, he was an avid skier and a good tennis player. Don was always kind, friendly and a good friend. My prayers and sympathy go out to Don's family. We will miss him.

My deepest sympathy to Don's family. I've known Don since 1980. He was one of the first people I met when I joined the Ann Arbor Ski Club. He was always the life of the party with his funny one-liners, his warm spirit, and his constant smile. Don was one of a kind and he will be missed by all who have known him.

Don, you will missed by all that crossed your path. You were truly one of a kind and they definitely broke mold. Always quick with joke, a backhanded compliment, or a hand shake after a nice drive or a waggling putt. Full of laughter and a big smile, it was a pleasure to be in his company whether at work, at play, or participating in the many putting competition's on his Family Room floor, enjoying a few "Cold One's."
My deepest condolences, our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time. Rest in peace, Don. "M" Go Blue.

Hi;
I worked with Don for many years at Dana. Don was a special person. When he entered a room, it was like it came alive with his presence. All his customers liked him. It was a pleasure working with Don over the years.

I only knew Don over the past 5 years or so, meeting him for the first time on a yearly golf outing in the desert. From the first time I met Don he always made me feel like a life long friend, always greeting me with a smile and a hand shake. During our time playing golf it was always a treat to be paired with Don. Don would tell a story about golf or commentary about Michigan football. I’ll miss Don’s unique sense of humor. With Don it was all good natured fun and ribbing, He could take it as well as dish it out. Once while playing golf, we were paired together in a scramble. After a poor start to the round, Don put his hand on my shoulder and said Cliff you really need to start playing better you’re starting to embarrass me. With a big smile he stood up and drained a 20 footer for birdie. Or when one of my putts went racing buy he hole about 10 foot, he said that was an interesting speed. Playing golf with some one can tell a lot about a person. The things that I admired most about Don was his personal integrity to always do the right thing whether its calling a penalty on himself that no one had seen or shrug off a bad break or bad shot and concentrate on doing his best on the next task at hand. Like Don told me it’s just the right thing to do. I’m sure his personal life away from the course was very much the same. Buy the way we won the scramble. When it came to chipping and putting he had the nerves of a burglar. I’ll miss Don.

Don was one of a kind. A man's man who will be missed by all those that knew him. I enjoyed working with Don at Boston Ind. Hose and then at Dana Corporation during the 80's and 90's.

I also worked with Don for many years at Dana Corp. He was a wonderful person, full of humor and kindness. I'm sure he'll look down on the field at the Big House and yell "Go Blue!" from time to time...and maybe help sway a game or two! He will be missed.

My condolences to Don's sons. I am saddened to hear of his passing.
Don was the ultimate professional. When we worked together we worked hard, and when it came time for golf, we golfed hard.
Yes,Jeff, when Don was in a room, you can bet that room was full of fun.

I worked with Don for many years and he was a true friend. When we moved to Toledo, he was the first to welcome us to his home for dinner and he presented us with a nice gift that we will treasure all of our life. I remember how he loved Golf and how good he was at it.

Don, we will miss you and your Missouri humor, golfing skills, and friendship. I wish I could have done more.
To Don's sons: My condolences in the passing of your Dad. However you knew him, know that he brought joy whenever he was in the room.
[Your Mother's great grandfather and my great great grandmother were brother and sister. Indeed, it is a small world.]
