Donald Richard Seifried Sr.

Seifried, Donald Richard Sr. 73, died Wed., April 4, 2007. Dear husband of Rosemary M. Seifried (nee Hohrein); father of Donald R. (Charolette) Seifried Jr., Karen L. Haller, Sheri J. (Todd) Ernst and Brian T. Seifried; our dear grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and brother-in-law. Don was born and reared in Highland, IL. He graduated from Highland High School in 1952 and worked as a shoe cutter for Moulton Bartley and then at Journal Printing until it stopped printing the Highland Journal. Don worked at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for over 21 years, retiring at age 50 in 1984. He worked at Wicks Aircraft for several years and helped his wife operate Rosemary's Fabric & Quilts in Highland. Don was founder of Highland Hornet Model Airplane Club. He founded and operated for 20 years the Helvetia Flea Market. He compiled and printed "Highland In Focus" in 1987 (Editor & Publisher) and for 10 years ran, with his son, an Antique & Hot Rod Car Show in Highland, "Highland VFW Car Show". Don was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time at their club house. He also enjoyed researching Highland and his family history. He was also very active with the Power Show for the Highland Historical Society. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Printer Union, St. Louis, MO, Highland Historical Society (past President and Treasurer), Helvetia Sharpshooters Society (Life Member), Highland Pistol & Rifle Club (past President & Treasurer, Life member), National Rifle Association (life member) and Civil Air Patrol as a youth.Services:Visitation Fri., April 6, 4-8 p.m. & Sat., Apr. 7, 8-10 a.m. at SPENGEL-BOULANGER Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
