Beloved wife of the late Allan Owen Holtzman of 50 years; dear mother of David (Tracy), Denise Levitch (Jay) and Daniel (Eileen); cherished grandmother of Jacob (Haley), Julianna and Jaime; loving great-grandmother of Liam and George; dear daughter of the late Edwin and late Mary Hereth; beloved sister of the late Lois Green (late Robert), late Melvin Hereth (Marilyn), late Richard Hereth (late Eileen), late Elsie Rickey (late Louis), and Lavern Brown. Our dear aunt, cousin and friend.
Doris was born in Palmyra, Nebraska, attended Nursing School, and became a practicing R. N. for over 60 years. Doris was a passionate tennis player, Cardinal baseball fan, and poker player. Her family and friends meant everything to her, and she will be deeply missed.
Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2025, 11:00am at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery, 650 White Road. Donations may be made to Knight Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, MSC 1082-414-2555, Washington University, 1 Brookings Drive, St. Louis, MO 63130-9989 or Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes, Formerly Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes (Formerly JDRF), P.O. Doris will be missed by me. My sincere condolences to the entire Holtzman family. I have only positive memories of Doris from my college years, my wedding (and Dave and Tracy's wedding), family visits to St. Louis, my daughter's graduation dinner from Wash U., dinner at our house outside of Chicago, and attending a Northwestern Alumni Award dinner. Doris was so proud of her family, but in a modest and discreet way.
