Dorothy Luther

1933 - 2025

Luther, Dorothy "Dotty" (nee Gould), age 92, passed away Wednesday morning, October 29, 2025.

Loving wife for 66 years of George, until his death in 2022. Beloved mother of Melinda LeBleu and Bradley. Loving grandmother of Aubrey LeBleu.

Dotty grew up in Webster Groves, Missouri, where she attended high school. She attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri, where she majored in English and met her husband, George. She was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha sorority. She graduated from Central Methodist in 1956, and married George on August 17, 1956. The couple moved to Nashville, TN, where Dotty taught school and George attended medical school at Vanderbilt University, graduating in 1959. The couple returned to St. Louis, where George established his practice in Orthopedics. Dotty taught English at Kirkwood Junior High School until retiring to raise their children.

Dotty was known for her intelligence, wit, generosity, and hospitality. She loved literature, spending time with family and friends, and traveling throughout the world with them.

A funeral service will be held at the Chapel of Salem United Methodist Church, 1200 S. Lindbergh Blvd, St. Louis, MO, at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 13, 2025. A private graveside service will follow.

In lieu of flowers, Dotty requested that donations be made to Central Methodist University, 411 Central Methodist Square, Fayette, MO 65248, or to a charity of your choice.
