Doug was one of my very oldest friends, meeting at Price school in 1958. We were part of various mixes of friendships throughout our grade school years and kept up through high school. Ours was a childhood of long walks and bike rides and exploring creeks, Cub Scouts, Friday night sleepovers and endless summers. with no more electronics, than a transistor radio, and black and white then color TV. Doug was indeed funny and a pal, his family home always welcoming. He enlivened countless hours of conversation and fantasy and humor. My very oldest mutual friend just sent me the news a couple of days ago. I regret not staying in touch with Doug and meeting his family: my heartfelt comfort, and condolences to them.

I was honored to know Douglas professionally, and as a fellow alumnus of W&L. We always had friendly visits at the courthouses in and around St. Louis. Douglas was a very fine lawyer and a true gentleman. He will be missed.

Doug actually wore out a vinyl of American Beauty during law school. It was a pleasure to help him with that.
