My cousin, and best friend when we were kids. I hoped we'd get together again as you slowed down at work. We had so many good times with all our family members. You will not be forgotten.

We met 27 years ago as I remember, and instantly bonded a unique friendship that I have always cherished. There are too many memories to even try to speak of but we shared a relationship as mentor when there was a business idea, and a shoulder and an ear when there was a personal issue.

My only regret was that I didn’t spend more time with you these last few months when you needed me the most. My faith has assured me that you are in a better place and the reunion with those that have gone before us will be a festival indeed.

There will be an empty place in my heart without you , but you will live on in this place though the memories we will share with all whose lives you blessed.

Until God takes us home to be with you, rest now and know how much your friendship has meant to all of us and how are lives are better having known you.

The loss of my dear friend Doug is compounded with the pain that I cannot be there to share the love and remembrances of this wonderful, caring, generous and loving person. I can only say that Doug's example of charity and genuine regard for all humankind will live in us that are woefully left behind. His presence will be missed by more persons than any of us can imagine, and more than he would ever know. Thank you, Doug, for being your unique self. I know that his mother, Honey, and father, Paul and other family rejoice in his coming to them in the better place. And Liz, Lou and many others are waiting for Doug with a beaming smile and a wonderful libation.
Happy Journey, Doug.
I will see you when my days are through,
Until that day I will be missing you.

I will really miss Douglas. One day I was walking down my street near the Greystone, walking my dog and I looked up to see the Greystone. At that exact moment Douglas called my cell and we had a nice chat. There are other memories, but this is how I'll remember him. Chatting away about his interests and asking me about mine.

I will always be thankful that I can call Doug a personal friend, a collegemate, my insurance agent, my organist at my wedding, and the list goes on. While having dinner recently, he was concerned with my health, but that was Doug always concerned about others. We bonded the summer before starting college and it was a friendship I will always treasure. You will be missed by more than you will ever know.

Thanks Doug for all of the great insurance advice you shared over the years with fellow college roommates. Thanks also for always making time to reconnect and reminisce over the phone. We'll never forget all of the great times shared at Quincy University. Most of all, thank you for being our friend. We will miss you, but know that you are at peace.

Douglas, your friendship has made for truly great memories, especially so at Thanksgiving and Christmas. . .Honey, your poetry and the best bloody mary's. You are missed, but I am sure you are spreading your humor, generosity and love to others now and perhaps dancing the 'baden-baden'. I feel very fortunate for the time we did spend together. Thank you.

Douglas, we will always remember you--in fact how could anyone possibly forget you after crossing paths. Your kindness to persons of all types, your generosity, your willingness to host the masses, your genuine humor, your endearing and sometimes irritating craziness. All of these things add up to a truly unique person that we shall indeed never forget. Thanks for many wonderful years of friendship. We will think of you and speak of you often. Au revoir good friend.

Melissa and I will be forever grateful for +30 years of friendship. Although we now live away from St. Louis, Doug's introductions provided us with the core of our closest friendships which have lasted to this day. Special memories include the fabulous Christmas and New Years parties; Patty Long's; shooting bottle rockets from the Graystone rooftop on the 4th of July; Central West End Halloweens with Doug as Bishop and his nun entourage; CWE Christmas Walks; the early morning "locked car" incident at our Creve Coeur home on an extremely cold February night; visiting us in Mission Viejo; sightseeing, dining and shopping in Chicago; Blessing of the Fleet 1st place awards; Grand Haven, Saugatuck, and the Chgo. Yacht Club; Mackanic Island trip, antique car rides; shared dinners and stories; his love and care for Liz and Lou; his mother Honey; entrustment to us as worthy God parents to Duchess; the shared birth year with Douglas, Krauss, and myself; and even the mundane moments such as buying loaves of white bread at Aldi's for a Cathedral fish fry. He will be greatly missed.
