Judy was born April 15, 1937 in Bloomington, IL at Mennonite Hospital; the daughter of Carter and Winifred Pietsch. She married James Dickinson on July 27, 1963 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomington, IL.

She is survived by her son, James (Sarah) Dickinson II, Palmdale, CA; daughter, Elizabeth, Portsmouth, RI; grandchildren: Laura, Jennifer, Stephanie (Jonathan), Matthew, Carter and Davis; great-grandson, Sebastian; sister, Mary Jane Lawler, Turlock, CA; brother, Dr. Robert Pietsch, Bloomington, IL; sister-in-law, Mary (Paul) Blair, Green Bay, WI.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents and dear husband of 57 years.

Judy graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, then moved to the Chicago area and taught 4th grade for several years until she retired and started a family. Judy loved being a wife, mother, and homemaker. She was also very active in her community as a room mom for many years, a library assistant, and girl scout leader. She was a DAR and a member of PEO Chapter HP for over 60 years. Additionally, Judy was very active at Second Presbyterian Church as a church Elder and a member of the Sarah Circle. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren who have wonderful memories of their Nana. Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, decorating, gardening and reading. She was very creative and fearlessly tackled home projects and improvements. Judy's life was an art form. The attention to detail she displayed and the intentionality with which she built her life was truly remarkable. The love, lessons, and traditions she instilled in her children and grandchildren will never be forgotten.

Condolences to u children and Grandchildren. Judy was a friend of mine through B- N Panhellenic for many years. I moved to bloomington in 1974 and she and the other members were so nice to me as a new woman in Tien with small children. We always enjoyed each other´s company. We shared a love of our cats! I was fortunate to have met u before, Betsy , and she so loved you and yr brother. She was a cutie and so very smart and so enjoyed our Panhellenic functions. She will be missed. Sincerely, Patti Muller Salch. A Tri Sigma.

Judy & Jim were neighbors in the Washington/Kreitzer neighborhood for many years. She was always fun and informative. Our Christmas progressive dinner was fun and she enjoyed hosting many years. Thanks for the memories, Judy. Sympathy to the kids.
