Steffen, Jr., Frederick F.
Age 88, passed peacefully on June 11. Born on January 26, 1936, to Fred and Laura Steffen. Beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, and a fun and trusted friend to many.
Fred has resided in the City of St. Louis his entire life, serving the City first as a St. Louis Firefighter from 1962 to 1977 and later serving as the Clerk of the St. Louis Board of Alderman for more than 15 years until retirement in 2001.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to The Backstoppers.
Services: Visit. on June 18 at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South City Chapel, 7027 Gravois Ave., St. Louis, MO 63116, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Mass June 19, 10 a.m. at St. Stephen Protomartyr Catholic Church, with a 1-hour visit. prior. Inter. in Resurrection Cemetery.

My condolences to Denise and the entire family. Fred was a friendly person who always had a laugh or helpful words of advice when we worked together. He will be missed.

Ron and I wish to extend our condolences to your family. Fred was a great guy who was fun to be around whether socially or at work. He helped both of us navigate the Board of Alderman and always had a smile on his face. My sympathies especially to Denise who worked with me at City Hall.

Awe, sorry to hear of Fred's passing. I met Fred when I worked for the License Collector for the City of St. Louis. He was such a nice and witty guy. Rest in peace.
