Hallett, SJ, Father Garth Lie
died June 24, 2022, in St. Louis. He was 94 years old, a Jesuit for 75 years and a priest for 62 years. He had a distinguished career as professor, scholar and author, serving at Saint Louis University, 1985-2009. He was also dean of SLU's College of Philosophy and Letters, assisting young Jesuits in their academic program. Born in Chester, Penn., on Aug. 15, 1927, to George H. Hallett, Jr., and Mary Lie Hallett, he was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Arne L. Hallett and half-brother, Gerald Pond. He is survived by his nephew David Hallett of Manchester, Mo. Services: Fr. Hallett donated his body to science. There will be a Memorial Mass on Wednesday, July 6 at 4:30 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier College Church.
