Gilbert Bickel Obituary
Bickel, Gilbert "Gil" III
Of Ladue, Missouri and Vero Beach, Florida, died peacefully surrounded by his family on December 11, 2023 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Gil leaves behind his college sweetheart and wife of 57 years, Martha "Marty" Bickel and his five daughters and three sons-in law: Christine "Christy" Lawton (Patrick) of St. Louis, Susan Desmond of Overland Park, KS, Katherine "Kate" Swingle (Christopher) of St. Louis, Jennifer "Jenny" Bender (William) of Atlanta, GA, and Laura Bickel of St. Louis. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, whom he loved dearly and was so proud of: Jack, Patrick and Margaret "Maggie" Lawton, Thomas and Andrew "Drew" Desmond, Emma and Noah Swingle, and Sophie, Peter and Olivia Bender. He is preceded in death by his parents F. Gilbert Bickel II and Mary Welch Bickel, his sister Wanda Lea Bickel, his son Andrew Barrett Bickel and his grandson Simon Alexander Bender.
Services: A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, December 22, 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Annunziata, 9305 Clayton Rd., St. Louis, Mo. Visitation will be held on Friday, 10 a.m. until time of mass at church.
