Heather Schertzer Obituary

Schertzer, Heather Dawn (nee Gerloff) entered into eternal peace with the Lord on Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Beloved wife of Dr. Aaron Schertzer; amazing mother of Kennady, Reagan and Jackson; daughter of Kevin Gerloff and Donna (Mark) Stephens; sister to Jeremy, Erin, Kevin and Alex; granddaughter, niece, daughterin-law, sister-in-law, loving aunt, cousin, faithful friend and neighbor. Heather was born on January 6, 1982 in Hermann, MO and graduated from Warrenton High School, Warrenton, MO., attended UMSL and resided in Fenton, MO., where she was a stay at home mom to her three beautiful children. Heather cherished her family and blessed this earth with her giving heart and profound creativity. She was incredibly proud of her children. Her beautiful blue eyes could light up a room. When she was diagnosed with cervical cancer a year ago, she chose to fight and changed her name to Heather Badger inspired by the honey badger--who doesn't give a $#@%. She motivated those around her with her tenacity, positive attitude and unwavering courage and bravery. She loved Blues Hockey, Cardinal Baseball, Halloween and Christmas decorations, 4th of July parties with the neighbors, birthday cakes, sunshine, Tom Ford sunglasses, watching her children play, family vacations, talking on the phone, Juicy Couture, diamonds (the bigger the better) and Dr. Seuss quotes. She would want everyone to vote Republican, but would still love you if you didn't. Services: A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 8 at Manchester United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Annie's Hope or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by JAY B. SMITH Funeral Home, Fenton, MO. Tributes at jaybsmith.com

To the Shertzer Family:
We feel so helpless at this moment as words are not sufficient to express our sorrow for the loss of your beloved family member, Heather. We know Heather's joyful memories and life will live on with you in her children and in the life built together by Heather and Aaron. Faith in God along with the strong love within your family and friends will prove to be the ultimate solace. We extend all of our love to you and grieve for the loss of Heather.

To Our Dear Aaron:
Since the first time that you were introduced to us by “our daughter Heather”, you have held a special place in our hearts to the point of being like a second son to us. You guarded our Heather during your college days together in Kansas City and later you found “your Special Heather” with who you formed a beautiful life and family. Aaron, you are a strong, kind, and giving young man as exhibited in your everyday life and in the strong and unwavering love for "your Special Heather". You have a wonderful family and we know that with their support, the love of your children, and the memories you hold of “your Special Heather”, God and time will help mend your broken heart. Even though we never got to meet your Heather, we know through you that she was truly “Special”. We love you!

No greater sadness exists for us now than the loss of Heather on Wednesday, October 3rd. The fight is over and her pain and agony are now gone. Heather's memory will always survive for us within our son, Aaron, and their children. We will help see to it that their children remember the best days and leave behind the worst days of the past year. I don't know right now who's going to help me blow out my birthday candles like Heather did with me this February. She was always going to do that with me as our special moment. It will never be the same without her. God be with her now. We loved you Heather. Goodbye until we all meet again one day.
