Irmgard Voss Obituary
A native of Germany and a citizen of the United States since 1955, Mrs. Voss taught four years at the elementary level in the Mehlville District and then enjoyed a seventeen-year-career as a High School German teacher in the Lindbergh School District. She was deeply dedicated to the teaching profession, earning three degrees, including a Master of Arts in Teaching from Webster University in 1980 and generously contributed her service and leadership to professional groups and organizations over the course of her career. Mrs. Voss, former head of Lindbergh High School's Foreign Language Department, was selected for honor by the University of Missouri-Columbia as the recipient of its 1990 "Most Influential Teacher Award." She began an early retirement in 1989 and became a continuing student and aspiring ceramic artist at Craft Alliance Gallery. Irmgard was a resident of Webster Groves for 39 years before moving to assisted living four years ago. She was quick to smile, compassionate, supportive, energetic and hardworking. She is survived by her children, Elisa Voss, and Peter (Patricia) Voss, and their respective families. We are all deeply blessed to have had her in our lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation to; slso.org; eliotchapel.org; or craftalliance.org.
A celebration of her life will be held 2:00pm on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Eliot Unitarian Universalist Chapel, 100 S. Taylor Ave., Kirkwood, MO 63122.

Your mom was just the best. How she put up with her German students I'll never know. She actually got us to perform a whole play "auf Deutsch"....Hanswurstiade and we just had a blast. I regret not reconnecting with her later in her life. I always knew how much she loved us. She talked about you guys alot. She was the poster child for how to be present and care for all whose life she touched. Peace to you both!

Your mom, Irmgard, was such a treasure! We spent hours of studio time at Craft Alliance, throwing pots. She was creative, generous with her talents and incredibly inspiring. We were all fortunate to learn from her. Sincere condolences.
