Our heartfelt condolences go out to all of you. Jack was a wonderful neighbor and dear friend. We took such pleasure in all the work he did outside on your beautiful yard (those roses!) and in all the many kindnesses that you visited on our family for the three years we lived next door. Jack will be sorely missed by all of us. You are in our hearts and thoughts. We send you our love.

Jack Shelnutt was one of my very favorite teachers. He made our history class so enjoyable and he was highly respected by all of his students at U. City High. My deepest condolences to his family on their great loss.

I'm so sorry for your lost. I still remember him as being a teacher that brought history alive in the classroom. As I recall, he had this one lecture about Garibaldi- we all waited for it because we had heard about it from other students-that we especially loved. And for some reason, I remember the color red- maybe he wore that on the day of the lecture. It is 45 years later and that memory is still etched in my mind. That is quite a tribute to him.
