Jacqueline Starr Phillips

Phillips, Jacqueline Starr Asleep in angels arms, died gracefully as she lived with her loving family at her side May 15th in St. Louis. Born to John J. and Julia Starr August 29, 1913 in Toronto, Canada, she graduated Nicholas Senn High School in Chicago and on to Smith College. In 1949 she married Joseph L. Phillips. Highland Park was home for 43 years until a 1998 move to St. Louis to be closer to family. Jackie was a tireless worker and a single mom who provided a great life for her sons with jobs at Peterson Pontiac (HP), The First National Bank of Lake Forest, and after involuntary retirement in '78 she went to work for Allstate and then Engler, Zoglin, & Mann (Skokie). She loved traveling with friends, reading, gardening watching British TV shows, Crossword puzzles, and spending time visiting her grandchildren. Jackie is the beloved mother of Peter Starr Phillips of Mobile, AL and Guy Adams Phillips (Kim) of St. Louis. She is the loving Gaga of Leigh S. Phillips (San Francisco), Dana B. Phillips, (Chicago), and Geoffrey K. Phillips (St. Louis/USC). She is the loving step-grandma of Kevin T. Petite, Sammi J. Petite, and Jack R. Petite all of St. Louis. Her parents, John, Julia, and sister Constance Northway predeceased Jackie. All will miss her deep, honest laugh, twinkling blue eyes, and wonderful spirit!
