Quick note to family: Jim and I were roommates our second semester in grad school at Univ. of IL. We Southerners had to stick together - Vandy and UGA (from Athens). I was in his wedding and he in mine. He left U of I for GA Tech. We and another friend gave nicknames to various chemistry profs. I learned many baseball stats about the Cardinals over dinner times. Last personal visit was in March, 1978, when 4 Laniers came for St. Louis for the Final 4. Long friendship. Sad to lose him. Warren Lanier (PhD in Chem, 1964/U of I)
