James "Jim" Knox

Knox, James "Jim"

It is with deep sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of James "Jim" Knox of Naples, Florida and St. Louis, Missouri. Jim left this world on January 29, 2021 at the age of 85 due to complications from Covid-19. He is deeply missed.

Jim will be lovingly remembered by Judy, his wife of 62 years, and 4 cherished children Jim (Gigi) Knox, Shannon (Dan) Connors, Kerry (John) Capps, Kevin Knox (deceased), by grandchildren Jamie (Jeff) Ratusznik, Tim (Meagan) Knox and by great grandchildren Lucy and Camille Ratusznik. Jim is also survived by his younger twin brothers, Tim (Yolanda) Knox, Terry (Kathy) Knox, by sisters-in-law Barbara Hartmann, Linda (Jim) Bularzik, brother-in-law Bob (Joanne) Barbier and by loving nieces and nephews.

Jim and Helen Knox became the proud parents of Jim on September 15, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri. While attending the University of Missouri, Jim was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity and enjoyed playing soccer and participating in fraternity hijinks. He met the love of his life, Judy Barbier, and they married on June 13, 1959. Living in St. Louis and Denver, Jim enjoyed a 50-year career in the shoe business working for Brown Shoe Company and Nina Shoe Company. Jim loved his work but loved his family, friends and skiing in Vail even more.

Jim and Judy have been residents at BayPointe and members of St. William Catholic church in Naples for over 22 years and members of The Country Club of Naples for over 11 years. Jim was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Notre Dame football fan and an avid golfer. Some bragging may have occurred in the latter pursuit.

Jim will be remembered for his kind and infectious smile, his gentle but strong demeanor and his love for telling jokes and instigating shenanigans but most of all for his deep love for his family.

A celebration of Jim's life will be delayed due to the current environment with details to be provided at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jim's name to Guadalupe Social Services (Catholic Charities) PO Box 5034, Immokalee, FL 34143 or The Naples Senior Center, 5025 Castello Dr. Naples, FL 34103. Jim was passionate about the mission and services provided by these 2 great organizations.

A special thanks to his compassionate, dedicated caregivers, Nancy, Yanni, Ginny, Sam and Marcelo along with personal trainer, Rob, who provided a great deal of care, comfort and fun for Jim. Thank you to all the Doctors and Nurses at NCH who cared for him along with the MANY friends who lifted him up throughout his beautiful lifetime.
