Maginnis S.J.; Dearest mother of Patrice Musick Whitman (Jeffrey), Don Carr Musick III (Elizabeth), Margaret M. Griesedieck (Christopher); Dear Grandmother of Mae M. Whitman, Elisabeth M. Conrad, (Keenan) and Christopher G. Griesedieck Jr. (Bindhu); Dear Great Grandmother of Christopher G. Griesedieck III, and Kerry Rose Conrad.
Mrs. Musick was born in St. Louis November 5, 1925. She attended Visitation Academy and won a four-year scholarship to St. Louis University, where she met her future husband, Don C. Musick, Jr. in the University Newsroom. The paper won a national award for best college newspaper with Mrs. Musick as Editor.
She married her husband in 1948, and their marriage would span almost 55 years until Mr. Musick's death in 2003. Mrs. Musick assumed the Emeritus Chairmanship of Musick Construction Company upon his death. In her later years, she loved touring the city to see the company's many ongoing and completed projects.
In the 1960's, Mrs. Musick was known for her public relations acumen for charities and schools, including work for the Villa Duchesne Fair and the Priory Xanadu Auction which were well publicized in local papers. She also put out singlehandedly a newspaper for the Museum of Science and Natural History in Oak Knoll Park. She spearheaded a benefit for the Museum with the grand opening of the Martin Cinerama on Lindell Boulevard with the first showing of "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" in St. Louis.
An accomplished pianist and organist with perfect pitch, Mrs. Musick was also a voracious reader, particularly of British mysteries and biographies and a talented writer. Her priorities, however, were always her family, her faith and her church.
Known for her kind spirit and generosity, Mrs. Musick was a benefactor to many organizations, including the St. Louis Symphony, the St. Louis Art Museum, The Archdiocesan Appeal, The Smithsonian Institute and countless other charities.
Services: A Memorial Mass will be held for Mrs. Musick on her birthday, Sunday, November 5, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of the Annunziata, 9305 Clayton Rd., Ladue, MO, 63124. Private Interment. No Visitation. Donations in honor of Mrs. Musick may be sent to The Don C. Musick Endowed Scholarship, St. Louis University, Office of Development, One North Grand Boulevard, DuBourg Hall, Rm. 308, St. Louis, MO 63103.
