I was a very young man when I first met Mr. Sifford. He use to let me hang out at his garage on Pennsylvania and Park Ave. On the Southside of St. Louis. He taught me about tools, gear ratios, torque etc. As a young African American boy. His Purple and white Ford Fairlane was awesome. He also took me to Gateway Track on Sunday's. He was a Great Guy. Southside Forever. Jerry.

He was one of a kind - one of the greatest guys you could ever have known. He was a Hero, a Buddy and a great Friend to so many over the years. Always a smile and a laugh you could never forget. I'll always remember the last time we spoke..... as we shook hands, he said Marty..... I'll talk atcha later. Classic Sifford

He can never be replaced, only remembered for the fun and good times we all had together.

If there is a hereafter.......
I suspect that Sifford, Phillips, Bill Schrader and my Mom will be waiting at Greenups or Truck Port for all of us.

I'm going to miss you Jerry

I never saw Jery race. I never even had a beer with him. He knew Ronnie and I were close, so he treated me as a friend also. My regret is, I wish I could have knew him better. Wiezer

To my dear friend Jerry, always in my heart, we will meet again, then we will share all the stories of the stuff that we done together, I watched you win and loose, saw you hurt, bought you many chili's after you won a race, sharing many good times with you, remember the drag car you built me, that could have run at Lake Hill, remember the many phone calls from Ronny your mom and dad asking when you were going to come back to the parts store, your a friend to me and to many others, the only person that I could think of in racing as long as me, I am so gratefull to be a part of your life and loved every minute of it. Heaven will have the racer of all racers, your friend forever, Rich Thomas Sr. and family
