Joan Lee Detmer

Detmer, Joan Lee (Kleeman), 81, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Joan was a devoted wife of the late Carl Detmer for 51 wonderful years. She is the mother of 4 children Barbara Mills, Carl (Margaret Anne) Detmer, Laura Detmer, Gary (Karen) Detmer; loving grandmother to Daniel Mills, Derek (Page) Mills, Kyle, Cara, Katie, and Grant Detmer; great grandmother to April and Dean Mills; sister of Ken (Connie) Kleeman; beloved sister in law, aunt, cousin, and dear friend to many. Joan was privileged to be a homemaker and loved being home while raising her 4 children. She taught Sunday school, volunteered at Kingdom House, and was active in Ruth Circle at St. Marks United Methodist Church. She was also an active member of Beta Sigma Phi for 40 years, where she fostered many friendships while serving her community. Joan was an avid sports enthusiast which created a special bond with her grand children. During her retirement years she enjoyed spending the summer months in Colorado with family and friends. Joan was a very caring and tender hearted person. Her greatest joy in life was being with family and she worked hard instilling strong family values. We will always love and admire her, and she will be greatly missed. Services: Visitation 3:00-8:00pm Friday, August 23 at HUTCHENS Mortuary, 675 Graham Rd. Florissant, Mo. Funeral will be 10:30am Saturday, August 24 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 315 Graham Rd. Florissant, Mo. Interment St. John's Mantels Cemetery Union, MO.
